As the official supporter of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, Airbnb has published the “Hello Tour Gangwon” local guidebook to promote Gangwon-do to travelers visiting the province.

The guidebook, which highlights many local attractions in Gangwon, including local restaurants, famous sightseeing spots, recommended itineraries and travel reviews by locals, will be distributed to visitors during the Games. Maps of duty-free shopping streets in Gangneung and Chuncheon are also included.

Available in both Korean and English, the pocket-sized guidebook can be used by both locals and foreign tourists. The guidebook was inspired from the ‘Tour Gangwon Mobile App’ developed by the  Gangwon provincial government, and has received the support of the Visit Korea Committee, Global ICT Forum and travel magazine Travie.

Sanghyun Lee, Airbnb Korea’s Head of Public Policy, said, “As the official supporter of PyeongChang 2018, Airbnb strives to promote Gangwon’s beautiful landscape and local attractions to a global audience. We believe that the guidebook will help travelers experience Gangwon’s unique culture, which will attract repeat visits to the region long after the Winter Olympics comes to a close.”

The release of the guidebook follows Airbnb’s agreement with the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on November 22 to become the “Official Online Accommodation Marketplace Services Supporter”.

20,000 copies will also be distributed at all Winter Olympic Game venues in Gangwon.

This guidebook was made possible thanks to all who provided their local knowledge as well as local residents and businesses. Airbnb looks forward to continued support of the growth of tourism in Korea and Gangwon province.
