Welcome to Lisbon!
Being a respectful guest in Lisbon is always important – but during the Lisbon Marathon, your attitude is key to helping make the city a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
Local hosts have prepared a list of useful tips to help make your marathon experience memorable – for guests, hosts, and neighbours.
- Safety – Safety always comes first. Make sure to lock all doors and windows when you leave and keep any shared entrances in the building securely closed.
- Common areas – If you return late after the race, please be mindful of noise in shared spaces. Sounds can easily echo in hallways. Being courteous ensures a better experience for everyone.
- House rules – Take a moment to review the house rules for your accommodation (you can find them in your booking confirmation). Treat the space as if it were your own. Whenever possible, reduce waste and recycle properly.
- Keeping Lisbon beautiful: Please help us keep Lisbon beautiful by disposing of waste responsibly – using bins and recycling wherever you can – so everyone can enjoy the city, during the marathon and beyond.
- Explore the city – Take some time to discover other parts of Lisbon. Follow your hosts’ recommendations and explore the city’s local cuisine and neighbourhood shops.
- Support local businesses – Lisbon’s small shops, cafés, and markets are part of what makes the city unique. By shopping locally, you’ll enjoy authentic products and help the community thrive.
- Public transport – During the marathon, use public transport whenever possible. Trains, metro and buses are convenient options for moving between the start and finish areas and other places of interest. Ask your host for advice on routes and schedules.
- Have fun! – Feel at home and enjoy everything Lisbon has to offer: the views, the food, the atmosphere, and the warmth of its people. And don’t forget to leave a review for your host at the end of your stay, sharing your experience.
