Airbnb data reveals Bangkok concert travel boom with nearly 590% increase in stay searches in December

Bangkok, Thailand, 8 June 2026 - Fans are flocking to Bangkok for major concerts and festivals, with new Airbnb data revealing sharp increases in demand for stays around key music events. As live entertainment draws crowds from across Thailand and beyond, these events are increasingly driving travel to the city.

Searches for stays in Bangkok coinciding with the upcoming BTS concert dates in December have surged nearly 590%¹. Similar spikes were also seen during Songkran, where searches for stays in Bangkok during both the S2O Songkran Music Festival and Siam Songkran Music Festival dates increased more than 40%,² highlighting continued interest in travel around major music and cultural moments.

K-culture inspires Thai travelers to turn concerts into overseas trips

As concert travel continues to influence how people plan trips, Thai travelers are also increasingly looking overseas for entertainment-related experiences. According to a new survey commissioned by Airbnb³, destinations like Seoul continue to attract strong interest from Thai travelers, with close to 1 in 3 Thai survey respondents (31%) saying K-pop sparked their interest in visiting South Korea. Gen Zs in particular, are more likely to be motivated by K-pop concerts, events and fan meetings when it comes to visiting Korea in the next 5 years (43% vs. 26% of those aged 45+). The report also found that 94% of Thai travelers are interested in experiencing local culture during their trip, particularly food (64%), heritage experiences (39%) and nature (39%)  — highlighting growing interest in experiencing Korea beyond concerts and entertainment alone.
