Key Takeaways

  • New research from Airbnb and Eurostar reveals more families are choosing France’s capital for their next family holiday - disproving the idea that the city is just for couples
  • While traditionally, parents may have opted for a week in the sun over a city break, research finds families are attracted to Paris for its educational landmarks (50 percent), lesser-known family attractions (50 percent), and easy travel access (48 percent)

A picture-perfect Paris scene would typically conjure up a couple strolling its streets with a red rose and the Eiffel Tower in view. However, new research conducted by Airbnb and Eurostar 1 shows that Paris is gaining popularity among families, with 60 percent of parents considering a city break there in the next two years.

The study of UK parents with children aged 0-18 years, found a growing desire for meaningful family connections on holidays – with 1 in 5 (21 percent) citing increased screen time as a barrier to real interaction during holidays.

This challenge of connection is encouraging more parents to choose the city of Paris for family getaways. Nearly half (49 percent) say Paris is rising up the ranks of holiday wish lists, citing reasons such as easy travel access from the UK (48 percent), rich cultural history (48 percent), and an array of landmarks (50 percent) – providing children with an education on everything from Picasso and the Impressionism art movement, to how some of the biggest fashion houses came to be.

To make it even easier for families to enjoy Paris together, this February half term Airbnb and Eurostar are teaming up to offer a chance to win complimentary train tickets and up to £1,000 towards a Guest Favourite Airbnb – the most loved Airbnb homes.

Over the past year, Eurostar witnessed a 15 percent growth in families booking trips to Paris, with Airbnb seeing a 22 percent increase2 in searches for Paris made by people with children from 2022-2024. Therefore it’s no surprise to learn that two thirds (66 percent) of parents think Paris is an attractive destination for a family holiday.

Paris isn’t short of family-friendly attractions to keep the kids entertained, but it’s not just the museums and galleries that are catching parents’ eyes – it’s the language element too. The majority (79 percent) of parents say it’s important that family holidays offer the experience of a different culture for the kids, whether that be another language or trying the local food.

From pony rides in the picturesque Jardin du Luxembourg, to eateries that cater for even the most particular young palates – Airbnb and Eurostar have also curated the ultimate family-friendly Paris itinerary to make holiday-planning fuss free, which you can access below:
