To celebrate one of the most highly-anticipated Ashes series in recent times, Airbnb has teamed up with the WACA Ground and cricket legend Mike Hussey, offering cricket fans the ultimate bucket-list experience during the West Test.
A group of up to four lucky guests will have the opportunity to access an exclusive overnight stay on the WACA Ground’s hallowed turf, timed to celebrate the opening Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series, which is being hosted in Perth for the first time in more than 40 years.
This November, guests will be hosted by Ashes great Mike Hussey, who will share tales from his career in an evening designed to capture the magic of the Ashes as the opening Test of the summer gets underway.
Guests will sleep in a custom glamping tent on the outfield, enjoy a game of backyard cricket with Hussey, a movie night under the stars, and tickets and a VIP experience to the sold-out Day 2 of the Perth Ashes Test.
Airbnb Country Manager for Australia Susan Wheeldon said Airbnb has an important role to play with major sporting events such as The Ashes.
“Airbnb aims to create unforgettable experiences that connect people to Australia’s rich culture and sporting legacy. Together with the iconic WACA Ground, we’re offering fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and breathe cricket history.
“The Ashes is driving demand in Perth, with Airbnb searches more than double from international visitors1. It’s no surprise the UK leads the pack, while Millennial searches jumped over 50 percent2.
“Major events such as The Ashes bring people together from around the world and present a fantastic option for those looking to pocket some extra cash and offset other holiday expenses.”
WA Cricket Chief Executive Officer John Stephenson is thrilled fans are flocking to Perth for the first Ashes Test.
“It’s been more than 40 years since an Australian home Ashes campaign opened anywhere other than Brisbane and it was here at the WACA Ground, where we witnessed some of the greatest moments in Ashes history and the rise of legendary Australian cricketers.
“In collaboration with Airbnb, we’re opening our doors in a new and exciting way – giving fans a chance to wake up where sporting magic happens and experience the traditions that make cricket so special.
“The demand for this series has been huge with more than 18,000 guests from interstate and overseas purchasing over 42,000 tickets to the West Test3.”
Cricket legend Mike Hussey is looking forward to sharing the memories of his stellar international cricket career.

About the WACA Ground
The WACA Ground has been the centre of sport in WA for more than 130 years. Established in 1890, the iconic ground has hosted thousands of games and events from the Ashes, to the Rolling Stones and the English Premier League and has helped shape the state’s long history of sporting culture. Currently undergoing a $184 million redevelopment, the ground will be transformed into a 10,000-capacity, multi-sport and community facility that will redefine what a sporting ground means to Western Australians.
