As travel resumes and people continue to embark on long-awaited trips, Airbnb is supporting an initiative by the Seoul Tourism Organisation (STO) to promote fair and sustainable travel practices. The destination marketing organisation’s newly announced global contest aims to encourage travellers to adopt fair and sustainable practices that drive economic benefits to local communities, minimise environmental impact, promote cultural heritage and bring social benefits to locals.
The STO’s Global Fair and Sustainable Travel Contest – which has also been selected as an official program of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in 2022 – asks travellers, groups or businesses to share how they have experienced or fostered tourism experiences in this space.
Airbnb continues to partner with organisations and governments around the world to find new ways to ensure travel is a positive experience for Hosts, guests and the wider community. The company is supporting the STO’s global contest in a variety of ways, including by providing a total of $25,000 USD in travel coupons to the winners, collectively.
Both businesses and individual travelers can participate by submitting their entries – in any format, including text, photos or videos – to the contest’s official website between 21 July and 21 August. The winners’ stories will then be shared through the official Seoul tourism website.
