Through Airbnb.org’s emergency response program, accommodation is available to impacted communities through 8 April, 2021

In coordination with emergency agencies and other local partners, Airbnb.org has activated its emergency response program to help people displaced by the flooding along the NSW coast. The program – formerly known as Open Homes – allows Hosts on Airbnb with entire homes listings to offer free stays to people in need of temporary accommodation in the designated activation area.

Temporary stays through the program are available until 8 April, 2021, to people under evacuation orders along the NSW coast – from Coffs Harbour to Wollongong

Derek Nolan, Airbnb’s Head of Public Policy for Australia, said: “Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the floods and the local authorities working hard to keep our communities safe.

“Through Airbnb.org’s disaster response program, new and existing Hosts on Airbnb can provide free, temporary housing to people displaced by the flooding. We are grateful for the generosity of our Host community and proud to support Airbnb.org’s work as they continue to coordinate closely with local emergency agencies and other local partners to help those in need.”

Existing Hosts on Airbnb with entire home listings and anyone with free space in impacted regions along the NSW coast can now opt in to list their homes for $0 and offer free, temporary stays to those in need by visiting http://www.airbnb.com/nswfloods21.

About Airbnb.org

Airbnb.org is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating temporary stays for people in times of crisis. Airbnb.org leverages Airbnb, Inc.’s technology, services, and other resources at no charge to carry out Airbnb.org’s charitable purpose. This sparked a movement and marked the beginning of a program that allows Hosts on Airbnb to provide stays for people in times of need. Since then, the program has evolved to focus on emergency response and to help provide stays to evacuees, relief workers, refugees, asylum seekers, and most recently, frontline workers fighting the spread of COVID-19. Airbnb.org is a separate and independent entity from Airbnb, Inc. Airbnb, Inc. does not charge service fees for Airbnb.org supported stays on its platform.
