Carlos, host in Barcelona: “I’ve had to learn everything about hosting before becoming a superhost!”
Carlos has been a journalist, an actor, a singer and a quantity surveyor. And all these aspects of his life can be found at his Barcelona home, in his pictures, books and records. “I’m also a nomad in my own city, I like to discover neighbourhoods and hidden gems, and that helps me a lot with my guests“, he explains.
Carlos, now 75, started sharing his home six years ago. “A friend told me about Airbnb. I perfectly remember my first guest: A woman from the US that came to run the Barcelona marathon and stayed for weeks. I had to learn a lot of things about hosting before becoming a superhost“, he says, smiling.
“Before my guests even arrive in Barcelona, we already trust each other because we’ve been messaging before”
“Before my guests even arrive in Barcelona, we already trust each other because we’ve been messaging before. Nobody has ever disappointed me. None. Because I already know them!“.
“I wait for them in the street, and then I dedicate my time to them so they can feel at home, in my house and in my city“.
“At 75, I know everything in life is constantly changing. At 14, I started working in a truck factory to help my family. At 18, I grabbed a guitar and formed a rock and roll band. I still play in a group. We play traditional Cuban music, something completely different to rock and roll tempo. Yes, everything changes“.
