Myer Melbourne Lists on Airbnb for a Magical Overnight Christmas Stay

For those who’ve always dreamed of waking up in a Christmas wonderland, Airbnb and Myer are making that wish come true. For the first time Myer’s beloved Bourke Street flagship store will be listed on Airbnb for an overnight stay on December 23rd, giving one family the ultimate Christmas sleepover that even Santa would be jealous of!

With Elves from Myer’s Santaland as your shopping chaperones, you’ll be treated to a curated schedule of yuletide activities across 9 levels of retail nirvana – plus a sizable store credit to spend along the way.

For the overnight adventure, Myer’s exclusive Personal Shopping Suites will be transformed into a two bedroom family apartment with private kitchenette, ensuring you have all the creature comforts to get some R&R in between a jam packed schedule of shop-floor shenanigans.

Available to book from 12pm on Saturday 19th December via airbnb.com/myerchristmas, for the cost of $65* – to mark 65 years of Myer’s iconic Christmas windows, the stay will kick off with an indulgent Christmas feast with all the trimmings where guests will be breaking bon bons with Myer ambassador Kris Smith and sharing dad jokes over pudding and pavlova.

Then it’s onto a once in a lifetime after-dark private tour of the Myer Christmas windows with the mastermind behind the annual display, Creative and Technical Director John Kerr. A 27-year Myer windows veteran, John will captivate with his tale of how this year’s windows almost didn’t happen and how he led a team to ‘uncancel Christmas’ and save the windows at the eleventh hour.

After a cosy night’s sleep, a surprise celebrity chef will whip up a gourmet breakfast banquet before our guests will be bestowed the honour of opening the store’s doors to a frenzy of shoppers on the final day of Christmas trade.

The grand finale takes place in the toy department where the spirit of giving will be truly embraced during a charity ‘toy grab’. Myer Giftologists will set the clock for 5 minutes and every toy our guests are able to grab will be donated to the Salvation Army, to help spread some Christmas cheer to needy families.

Susan Wheeldon, Airbnb’s Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said: “After an especially challenging year for the people of Victoria, we’re thrilled to be working with Myer to give one family a truly remarkable Christmas experience to mark the milestone of 65 years of the annual Myer Christmas windows display.

During every other year the windows attract crowds from all over the world. And while this Christmas may be a little different, we hope this special partnership with Myer encourages everyone to spread the benefits of tourism to retail and hospitality businesses right across the country.

As the peak summer holiday season approaches we’ve certainly seen demand for unique listings like farm stays and glamping yurts, so we thought we’d jump on that trend and offer something truly unique – an unprecedented overnight stay in a department store – that will give one fortunate family ultimate shopping bragging rights for many Christmases to come.”

Myer Chief Customer Officer Geoff Ikin said: “What a fun and spectacular opportunity for one lucky family, staying overnight in Australia’s favourite department store with all the gifts you could imagine at your fingertips – it’s what Christmas dreams are made of!

“We’re honoured Airbnb approached Myer as part of their campaign, it really goes to show how special and recognised the Myer brand, and the iconic Myer Christmas windows are.

“We look forward to welcoming our Airbnb guests into store for a memorable stay, jam packed with celebrity appearances and unique experiences, available only at Myer.”
