We know there are a number of unique ways Airbnb can help companies and professionals keep up with the changing ways we work. That’s why, a few months ago, we shared new information about Airbnb for Work. Now, the team focuses on bringing the best of Airbnb to the professional world by expanding beyond just business travel and including team building, offsites and meetings, and relocations for customers.
To continue offering new ways for professionals to collaborate during offsites and meetings, today we are sharing news that Gaest.com will join the Airbnb family. This acquisition will fuel our vision of helping all professionals feel a sense of belonging at work by connecting them with the unique spaces they need for meetings and events.
Gaest.com is an online marketplace focused primarily on inspiring meeting spaces for short-term rentals (hours/days). Founded in 2015 in Aarhus, Denmark, they now operate across six continents. Guests book spaces on Gaest.com for interviews, meetings, workshops, team building events, and even photoshoots. Hosts can easily list their spaces to reach thousands of business professionals, and can optionally provide add-ons and other services to enrich the stay.
We’re thrilled to join one of the world’s most innovative companies and become an integral part of their mission to make it easier for professionals to feel a sense of belonging at work. Our dream from day one has been to make it easier, faster, and more cost-effective to list, discover, and book unique spaces that spark creativity, motivate interaction and encourage knowledge sharing.
Anders Mogensen, Co-Founder and CEO of Gaest.com
Events and meeting spaces
In recent years, companies have come to demand more flexible spaces as their team’s needs change. Improved access to spaces for meetings, events, and other gatherings is great for employees, for companies, and for efficient urban real estate utilization.
Working professionals may spend more than half their waking hours at work. Meetings and events offer a unique opportunity for Airbnb to address local use cases and support our full community of diverse professionals.
We imagine a world where anyone can share their space for professional events and, in the longer term, for celebrations. Bringing in a leadership team with strong domain knowledge allows us to accelerate our work in this area, and more importantly Gaest.com and Airbnb share a vision of helping every space owner become entrepreneurs through sharing their spaces with those who need it.
David Holyoke, Global Head of Airbnb for Work
Airbnb and Gaest.com
Gaest.com will continue to operate as its own platform for the foreseeable future and Gaest.com team members will join Airbnb. The Gaest.com team will report into our Homes business unit, where President of Homes Greg Greeley is leading a robust and aggressive plan to both support the hosts who have always powered Airbnb and expand our accommodation and service offerings into new areas.
Expanding the Airbnb community
Airbnb’s mission is to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere, and while historically we’ve focused on overnight stays and unique Experiences, we know there are millions of unique spaces in the world that may be perfect for other occasions and short-term uses. The inspiring hosts and guests who will connect and create belonging through great meetings and events in new spaces are a critical part of how we will achieve our mission.
As we work to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere, we are focused on building for the future, driving strong sustained growth, and creating new businesses that will power long-term success.
