Airbnb and KTO collaborate to launch local cleaning guidelines

Airbnb and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) today released the “Accommodation Safety Guideline” to help promote clean and safe tourism, preparing Airbnb hosts and guests for the future of travel.

The new guidelines, developed in collaboration with the KTO, includes cleaning advice to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, important information about safety equipment and emergency response procedures, and safety precautions to check before and after reservations. 

Airbnb is proactively participating in the KTO’s campaign to promote the guidelines to its hosts and providing a detailed version of the guidelines in the local Airbnb host Resource Center. 

“Independent and comfortable places like homes have been regarded as a shelter for avoiding crowdedness. Airbnb is joining efforts to provide clean accommodation in cooperation with KTO, while taking advantage of its greatest advantage as a careful service of individual hosts,” said Brandon Son, Country Manager in Airbnb Korea.

The guideline was also informed by Airbnb’s new Enhanced Cleaning Initiative which was developed in consultation with leading experts such as Dr Vivek Murthy, the former Surgeon General of the United States.

에어비앤비, 한국관광공사와 코로나19 예방 위한 청결관리 가이드 배포

에어비앤비가 한국관광공사와 함께 숙소 소독방법 등 청결 및 안전관리 방안이 담긴 ‘숙소 안전 가이드라인’을 제작해 배포한다. 신종 코로나바이러스감염증(코로나19) 확산을 예방해 숙박 사업자와 이용자를 보호하고 안전한 여행을 촉진시킨다는 취지다.

숙소 안전 가이드라인은 숙소에서 꼭 지켜야 하는 필수 안전 수칙을 담고 있는 지침서로, 청결 관리방안을 포함해 숙소 내 필수 안전설비, 상황별 대처방법, 숙소 예약 전·후 확인해야하는 안전사항 등에 대한 내용을 담고 있다.

청결 관리방안은 에어비앤비가 미국 공중보건국 최고운영책임자(Surgeon General) 출신의 비벡 머시(Vivek Murthy) 박사의 자문 등을 거쳐 최근 제작한 ‘청결 강화 프로그램’의 내용을 바탕으로 관광공사와 함께 제작했다. 청소 10계명과 살균청소 항목 리스트가 포함되어 있는 청결 관리방안은 한 페이지로 일목요연하게 정리돼 숙박 사업자가 쉽게 따라할 수 있다. 

에어비앤비는 또한 숙박 사업자들의 폭넓은 참여를 위해 에어비앤비 자체 소통채널을 활용해 숙소 안전 가이드라인의 홍보에 나서며 관광공사의 캠페인에 적극 참여한다.

숙소 안전 가이드라인에 담긴 청결 관리방안보다 더 자세한 지침을 이용해 숙소를 관리하려는 숙박 사업자는 에어비앤비가 마련한 청결 강화 가이드를 통해 도움을 받을 수 있다. 에어비앤비의 청결 강화 가이드는 에어비앤비 웹사이트의 ‘자료센터’에서 찾아볼 수 있다.

손희석 에어비앤비 코리아 컨트리매니저는 “코로나19로 인해 여행업계에서는 많은 사람들과 마주치지 않고, 각종 편의시설이 완비돼 집처럼 편안하고 독립된 공간이 주목받고 있다”며 “에어비앤비는 개별 호스트의 세심한 서비스라는 최대 장점을 살리면서도 관광공사와 함께 협력해 청결한 숙소를 제공하기 위한 노력에 동참하고 있다”고 설명했다.
