Airbnb เสริมแกร่งผู้ให้บริการที่พักหญิงชาวไทย

ปัจจุบันสัดส่วนโฮสต์ Airbnb ในประเทศไทยเป็นผู้หญิงมากถึง 55 % โดยกรุงเทพฯ ติดอันดับ 1 จังหวัดที่มีโฮสต์ผู้หญิงมากที่สุด ตามมาด้วยเชียงใหม่ พัทยา ภูเก็ต และหัวหิน อ้างอิงข้อมูลจากการสำรวจ Airbnb 2020 Compact Survey ด้วยเหตุผลแรกที่ระบุว่าทำไมโฮสต์ชาวไทยถึงแชร์บ้านของตัวเองบน Airbnb คือ เพื่อหารายได้เสริมสำหรับนำไปเป็นค่าใช้จ่าย ตามมาด้วยการนำรายได้ไปปรับปรุงบ้านของตัวเอง

เนื่องในเดือนของวันสตรีสากล Airbnb ต้องการเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการสร้างการรับรู้ถึงความสำเร็จของผู้หญิงทั่วโลกในด้านสังคม เศรษฐกิจ วัฒนธรรมและการเมือง โดยในช่วงสองปีที่ผ่านมาแม้ว่าผู้หญิงจะได้รับผลกระทบจากการแพร่ระบาด ของโควิด-19 ในสัดส่วนที่ไม่อาจประเมินออกมาได้ แต่ผู้หญิงหลายคนสามารถค้นพบโอกาสใหม่ๆ ในชีวิต ทั้งการช่วยเหลือครอบครัว พร้อมกับทำตามแพสชั่นของตัวเองจนประสบความสำเร็จได้จากการเป็นผู้ให้บริการที่พัก หรือ โฮสต์ บน Airbnb ที่ให้บริการอยู่ทั่วโลก

ปุณยนุช ทองระอา ซูเปอร์โฮสต์สาวชาวไทย ผู้ให้บริการที่พักบน Airbnb จำนวน 2 แห่ง ซึ่งหนึ่งในนั้นคือที่พักริมน้ำ Canal Next Door แถววัดนาคกลาง ธนบุรี บ้านไทยรีโนเวทใหม่สวยงามแถมบรรยากาศดีๆ ริมคลองที่เป็นที่ชื่นชอบ จากนักท่องเที่ยวทั่วโลกที่มาเยือน โดยก่อนหน้านี้ ปุณยนุช เคยทำธุรกิจออนไลน์ก่อนที่จะตัดสินใจมาเป็นโฮสต์ Airbnb เริ่มต้นจากการแชร์บ้านบนชั้นสองของเธอกับผู้เข้าพัก จากนั้นก็ได้รีโนเวทห้องเพิ่มเติมและลงประกาศบน Airbnb เพื่อหารายได้เสริม

ปุณยนุช เล่าว่า “รู้สึกเป็นเกียรติมากที่ได้สร้างความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างแขกผู้เข้าพักกับผู้คนในชุมชนวัดนาคกลาง ซึ่งแขกผู้เข้าพักได้อุดหนุนซื้อของร้านขายขนมและร้านขายของชำเล็กๆ ในชุมชน การเป็นโฮสต์ไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงแค่การพัฒนาปรับปรุงที่พักที่นำไปเข้าร่วมบน Airbnb เท่านั้น แต่รวมถึงการสนับสนุนชุมชนในท้องถิ่นของตัวเองก็มีความสำคัญเช่นกัน และได้ต้อนรับแขกผู้เข้าพักที่เคยมาพักแล้วหลายครั้ง เพราะในระหว่างที่มีผู้เข้าพัก พวกเราต่างสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันแน่นแฟ้นระหว่างกัน และผู้เข้าพักเองก็รู้สึกสนุกที่พวกเขาสามารถเชื่อมต่อกับผู้คนในชุมชนของเราได้”

ณัฐธิดา เนียมถนอม (ณัฐ) ซูเปอร์โฮสต์สาวชาวไทยจากจังหวัดกาญจนบุรี ได้ให้การต้อนรับแขกที่เข้าพักในบ้าน Airbnb ของเธอตลอดช่วง 5 ปีที่ผ่านมา จากจุดเริ่มต้นที่รู้สึกอิ่มตัวกับชีวิตการทำงานที่วุ่นวายในเมือง จึงตัดสินใจเดินทางกลับบ้านพร้อมสำรวจความเป็นไปได้ของการสร้างแหล่งรายได้ใหม่ๆ เพิ่มเติม ปัจจุบันคุณณัฐยังคงเป็นโฮสต์และรู้สึกมีความสุขกับการทำงานมากขึ้นในขณะที่สามีของเธอก็ยังทำงานประจำ และเมื่อนำรายได้ของทั้ง 2 คนมารวมกันก็ทำให้ครอบครัวมีความยืดหยุ่นทางการเงินมากขึ้น

เธอกล่าวเสริมถึงเคล็ดลับที่ดีที่สุดสำหรับผู้หญิงที่กำลังพิจารณามาเป็นโฮสต์กับ Airbnb ว่า “จากที่เริ่มต้นเป็นโฮสต์เพื่อเพิ่มช่องทางการหารายได้ แต่เหตุผลหลักที่ทำให้เป็นโฮสต์ต่อเนื่องมาถึงปัจจุบันคือความสนุกกับการได้ต้อนรับเพื่อนใหม่ๆ จากทั่วทุกมุมโลก ถ้าใครกำลังตัดสินใจที่จะเริ่มเป็นโฮสต์ ขอให้เชื่อมั่นในตัวเองแล้วแขกที่เข้าพักจะรับรู้ได้ถึงความจริงใจ หากคุณมีที่พักอยู่แล้วและกำลังพิจารณาที่จะให้เปิดให้บริการก็สามารถลงมือทำได้เลยค่ะ”

ปัจจุบันสัดส่วนผู้ให้บริการที่พักของผู้หญิงทั่วโลกสูงกว่าผู้ชาย โดยในปี 2564 มีผู้หญิงเข้าร่วมเป็นผู้ให้บริการที่พักหน้าใหม่บนแพลตฟอร์ม Airbnb มากกว่าผู้ชายถึง 21% และสร้างรายได้รวมกันทั่วโลกมากกว่า 12,000 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐในปีที่ผ่านมา ทำให้ผู้หญิงไม่เพียงแต่เป็นผู้บุกเบิกเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญในด้านการต้อนรับและการให้บริการ เนื่องด้วยทักษะของการสื่อสารที่ชัดเจนและมีการตอบสนองที่ดี ความใส่ใจในเรื่องของความสะอาด อีกทั้งประสบการณ์โดยรวมที่ยอดเยี่ยม ในปีที่แล้วโฮสต์ผู้หญิงได้รับการรีวิวที่พักด้วยคะแนน 5 ดาว (91%) ซึ่งมากกว่าโฮสต์ผู้ชาย (89%)

Marking International Women’s Day this month, it has never been more important to recognize the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across the globe. Over the past two years, even as women have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, many have identified new economic opportunities to support their families, pursue lifelong passions and achieve success – including hosting on global hospitality platform Airbnb. 

This entrepreneurial spirit is on display every day amongst Airbnb’s community of women Hosts, who now make up 55 percent of Thailand’s Host community. Bangkok ranks as the #1 city with the highest percentage of Airbnb women Hosts, followed by Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket and Hua Hin. Across the country, the number one reason* why Thai Hosts share their homes on Airbnb is to earn additional income for spending, followed by using this income to improve one’s home. 

Thai Superhost, Punyanuch Thongra-ar, hosts two Airbnb stays including the popular Canal Next Door in Wat Nak Klang, Thonburi, where her guests reside in a beautifully restored house overlooking the canal. Punyanuch ran an online business prior to hosting, and decided to share her home with guests by renting out the second floor of her home on Airbnb. She has since decided to renovate more rooms and list them on Airbnb to support her income.

She shares, “I am so honoured to share the relationship I have with Wat Nak Klang’s temple community with my guests, who also contribute to local small convenience stores and candy shops. Hosting is not only about developing your Airbnb listing – supporting the growth of my local community is essential too. I’m able to welcome back the same guests many times, because of the close relationship we forged during their stay, and also because my guests enjoy the connections they share with our local community.” 

Around the world, women are embracing hosting at a higher rate than men, with 21 percent more women joining the platform than men in 2021 as new Hosts. With global earnings of over US$12 billion in 2021, women are not only home sharing pioneers but also masters of hospitality, with responsive and clear communication, an emphasis on cleanliness and incredible overall experiences. In fact, women Hosts received a higher share of 5-star reviews (91%) than their male counterparts (89%) last year.

Long-time Thai Superhost in Kanchanaburi Natthida Niemtanom (Nat) has welcomed guests into her Airbnb home for the past five years. She began hosting when she grew tired of working in the city, and decided to return home and explore other sources of income. Nat continues to host today while her husband works full time, so their combined income can help provide the family with more financial flexibility.

On best tips for women considering to Host on Airbnb, she adds, “My desire to start hosting was to earn income, but I continued to host over the years because of how much fun it was. If you decide to start hosting, please stay true to yourself while hosting and guests will appreciate the authenticity. I’ve enjoyed making friends from all over the world while welcoming them into my home. If you already have a place and you’re considering hosting, just do it!”
