To support those impacted by the earthquake that occurred on January 1, 2024 in Japan’s Noto Peninsula, Airbnb.org is offering free, temporary housing to evacuees in collaboration with Ishikawa Prefecture. The stays with Hosts on Airbnb will provide evacuees continued temporary housing as they work with the prefecture to secure longer-term housing.

How it works

Local nonprofit RCF will coordinate with Ishikawa Prefecture to review the eligibility of evacuees and help match them with Airbnb.org stays of up to 29 nights, which are completely free for guests. Individuals who were displaced by the Noto Peninsula earthquake and are currently staying in primary evacuation shelters are eligible for Airbnb.org stays.

For more information on the different housing options available to evacuees, please visit the Ishikawa Prefecture website.

How to help

This Airbnb.org assistance is part of a broader effort to support communities in Japan impacted by natural disasters. In November 2023 Airbnb signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tokyo’s Sumida ward to provide temporary shelter to local residents displaced by natural disasters.

You can help support survivors of the Noto Peninsula earthquake and other crises by donating to Airbnb.org. 100 percent of donations go toward covering the cost of temporary stays.
