Áitiúil: Supporting Culture and Community in Ireland

Community is at the heart of everything in Ireland. It’s at our heart too. That’s why we’re proud to launch Áitiúil, our microgrant programme to support local community initiatives in Ireland.

Around the world, community projects are critical to preserving culture and heritage. Yet many grassroots groups rely on funding to see their ideas come to life.

That’s why we’ve launched Áitiúil, a dedicated microgrant programme for community and cultural initiatives. Throughout 2020, the programme will award grants of between €500 and €5,000 – to those that strengthen and support local communities.

Grants will be provided to projects that cover a diverse range of issues, including:

  • Environment: projects that help to protect and sustain our natural environment;
  • Placemaking: creating, raising awareness and celebrating Irish destinations and heritage;
  • Innovation: re-imagining Irish tourism and travel through entrepreneurship;
  • Festivals and Events: preserving or celebrating local festivals and bringing people together.

This is part of our ongoing commitment to communities across Ireland. Applications will be shortlisted every three months and then reviewed by our Community Board, a cross-selection of hosts on Airbnb from across Ireland.

The first round of successful applications will be announced over the next few months. We’ll then continue to announce successful recipients periodically this year on a rolling basis.

So if you know any good causes who could use a little help, point them towards our application page: www.airbnb.com/d/aitiuil
