Airbnb is a global community that has grown to 5 million hosts and we recently welcomed our 2 billionth guest arrival.
Long before these milestones, Airbnb got its start in 2007 when two of our co-founders welcomed three guests into their Rausch Street apartment in San Francisco.
San Francisco is our home, and the city’s innovative and entrepreneurial spirit has played an important role in shaping Airbnb.
As our company has grown, we continue working closely with San Francisco leaders to create a positive impact on the local community, advocating for regulations that support residents who share their homes and the guests they welcome, contributing to the tourism economy, and working towards the post-pandemic revitalization of the city we call home.
Today, we are excited to build on our commitment, and announce that we are extending the lease of our longtime headquarters at 888 Brannan Street through 2037. We first moved our HQ to 888 Brannan in SoMA, just a few blocks from the Rausch Street apartment, in 2013.
Bringing employees together intentionally is an essential part of our Live and Work Anywhere policy and we are excited that our 888 Brannan HQ will remain an essential place to foster in-person connection and collaboration among our employees around the world.
