Smart lock integrations are now available to all hosts in the US and Canada
In the 2023 Winter Release, to help hosts more easily manage their listing, we announced hosts would soon be able to connect compatible smart locks from Schlage, August, and Yale – three of the biggest smart lock providers in the US and Canada – to their Airbnb account via an integration that automatically generates unique door codes for every reservation.
Over the past year, we have been testing and gradually rolling out this integration. In the first few months of Airbnb Early Access, guests had overwhelmingly positive experiences with their smart lock stays, leaving an average check-in rating of 4.96.1
Today, we’re happy to announce that smart lock integrations with August and Yale are now available in addition to Schlage. Now all hosts on Airbnb in the US and Canada will be able to connect compatible Schlage, August, and Yale smart locks to their accounts.
This integration helps hosts offer a smoother check-in experience by automatically generating unique door codes that are sent to guests ahead of their stay along with their trip details. The codes are only active for the duration of a stay and are automatically deactivated after checkout. Additionally, when hosts make changes to a reservation due to an early check-in or late checkout, the code automatically adjusts to the updated reservation duration.
For added peace of mind and convenience, hosts receive a notification through the Airbnb app when guests check in and are notified any time a lock needs attention, whether it’s offline or has a low battery.
Hosts can now upgrade to this new integration by following the prompts available in the Listing tab within the Airbnb app. Guests will see when a host offers smart lock entry in their listing description. Learn more about our smart lock integration and compatible locks here.
