Following the success of a six-month pilot program between Airbnb and Minut in Prague, Minut is offering all Hosts on Airbnb in Prague a free sensor and a three month subscription to continue to support Airbnb’s community in being responsible and respectful neighbors and travelers.
During the pilot program, Hosts were able to trial noise monitoring sensors which helped Hosts solve 100% of noise events in their listing within 20 minutes. This is part of Airbnb’s commitment to promote responsible tourism in the Czech Republic.
In partnership with Minut, the noise prevention pilot aimed to identify new ways to help Hosts get ahead of potential issues before they start. Minut worked with a select group of voluntary Hosts in Prague, who installed the device in their listings to detect potential noise disturbances and inform guests about managing noise during their stays – all while maintaining guest privacy as the devices only monitor decibel levels.
Minut aggregated anonymized data on the frequency and duration of noise events, which found:
- Noise sensors helped to detect, prevent and resolve 100% of noise events in listings within 20 minutes
- While most Hosts don’t experience noise issues regularly, Minut sensors helped Hosts to eliminate noise in their listing in under 13 minutes on average1
- 100% of noise events were solved after communication with guests
- The majority (83%) of Hosts received positive feedback from guests and neighbors
“We are committed to being good partners to the City of Prague, and to the communities our Hosts call home. While the overwhelming majority of Hosts and guests on Airbnb are already responsible neighbors and travelers, partnerships like these with Minut enable Hosts to get ahead of potential issues and promote travel that respects their local neighborhood. We will continue to work with everyone to support sustainable tourism that boosts local economies, and works for communities and visitors alike.”
Ellen Madeker, Public Policy Campaign Lead, DACH and CEE
“We’re proud to partner with Airbnb to help Hosts in Prague care for their communities. The results from this program clearly shows that Minut is the solution to noise issues, with a 100% resolution rate throughout the six month pilot. We will continue to support Hosts on Airbnb to be good neighbors in Prague and across the world. Together we can make home-sharing work better for everyone: Hosts, guests, and neighbors alike.”
Nils Mattisson, CEO & Co-founder of Minut
“We have a significantly better overview over whether guests have parties and if they don’t comply with our house rules. We can better manage relationships with other tenants of the building, can work with actual noise sensor data and better control safe and risk-free reservations. Furthermore, most of the guests responded positively and understood the need and purpose of the sensor and agreed to it without any hesitation.”2

As part of the pilot program, Airbnb provided visiting guests with a dedicated ‘Good Neighbor Guide’, with tips on experiencing the best the city has to offer while respecting local communities. Last year, Airbnb rolled out its Neighborhood Support Line across the Czech Republic, and is working with government and tourism organizations across Central and Eastern Europe, including the Hungarian Tourism Agency, City of Krakow and City of Bratislava, to support responsible travel.
