Buy Black Marketplace: Showcasing Black-Owned Businesses in our Communities

Airbnb’s Black employee resource group, known as Black@, capped its Black History Month celebration with the third annual Buy Black Marketplace in Airbnb’s San Francisco office, and — for the first time — the Seattle and New York offices. The Marketplace is a showcase of some of the most celebrated local Black-owned, operated, and managed businesses recommended by our Airbnb host community and members of Black@.

In addition to the marketplace events, these Black-owned businesses are also highlighted in Airbnb’s 2020 Black Weekender Guides, curated by Black@. In regions with as much history and culture as San Francisco, Oakland, New York City, and Seattle, the Black Weekender’s Guides provide just a snapshot of some of the businesses to explore. We hope you use this guide to discover (or rediscover) the inspiring and broad spectrum of Black-owned businesses across the San Francisco Bay Area, NYC, and Seattle.

By curating these marketplace events and sharing local businesses, restaurants, and makers, our goal is to help visitors and locals alike put money back into the Black community and support businesses in each of these cities beyond the typical tourist hotspots. Check out highlights from each of the three marketplace events below.
