Rediscover North Carolina. That’s the message of a joint campaign launched by Airbnb and Visit North Carolina, which aims to support the state’s tourism recovery by inspiring guests to add the state to their 2022 travel plans.

Targeting residents of North Carolina and nearby states including South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Virginia, the campaign is designed to keep North Carolina top of mind for when people are ready to travel. It features a dedicated landing page highlighting the state’s three distinct regions — small towns in the Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains, bustling Piedmont cities and scenic communities along the coast. As part of the initiative, Airbnb will launch a social media campaign focused on local attractions, unique stays and signature experiences.

“We are proud to partner with Visit North Carolina to highlight the state’s natural beauty, great restaurants and local businesses. We know Airbnb guests have a meaningful economic impact in the places they visit, and this campaign is designed to encourage them to support the people and businesses that rely on tourism throughout the Tar Heel State,” said Viviana Jordan, Airbnb Public Policy Manager for North Carolina. “We look forward to continuing to work with Visit North Carolina to find new and innovative ways to highlight the state and support tourism recovery.”

Tourism is a major economic driver for the state and its communities. This partnership seeks to promote nearby travel and other safe opportunities to help rebuild the tourism industry as it gradually rebounds from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“During the pandemic, a lot of travelers embraced short-term rentals as an inviting option for connecting with friends and family,” said Visit NC Director Wit Tuttell. “With this addition to the lodging repertoire, both in-state and out-of-state travelers will be inspired to explore Airbnb’s ideas for things to see and do as well as places to stay. We’re excited about the partnership and what it can add to our efforts to return the state’s tourism economy to full vitality.”

Airbnb joins Visit North Carolina in encouraging visitors to follow the Three W’s: Wear a mask, wait 6 feet from others and wash your hands often.

Partnering with Visit North Carolina is part of Airbnb’s work with governments and tourism agencies globally to support economic recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

By working with destination marketing organizations, nonprofits and governments to support responsible and safe travel, Airbnb is helping communities harness these economic benefits for local citizens and small businesses.
